Constitutional confusion

On February 9th the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments to decide whether it was constitutional for a local school district to hold its high school graduations at Elmbrook Church. Apparently, some parents and graduates felt "unwelcome" and "uncomfortable" in the "intensely religious' atmosphere. Hmpf.

So...the plaintiffs are using the Constitution as grounds to keep the public school out of the church, even for something as innocuous as a graduation ceremony.

Meanwhile, in New York City, the local lawmakers are kicking all churches who rent space in public schools for their services out to the curb.

There, the city is using the Constitution to keep the church out of the schools.

How then, is it, that the administration can force religiously based institutions to act in a manner that contradicts the religious and moral basis of their faith?

Frankly, it appears that the government fully intends to stick its tentacles into every facet of life, including matters of faith, based on the idea that it knows what the "common good" is an how best to achieve it.

Fools.
