Company Girl Coffee 020312

Ah, Friday, how I love thee! Between last weekend's busy-ness and this week's workload, I'm more than ready for a rest.

As predicted, my Chinese student friend picked up on canasta quickly, with her partnership winning the overall game. She had a blast, and wants to come back next month. In the interest of providing some "american" experiences, I think she and I are going to take a day during spring break to wander a few byways and sample the "antique" stores, little shops and diners of small town life.

The only official item on the agenda for this weekend is a hair appointment. Unofficially, I need to finish and send out invitations to a Mardi Gras party for the 18th. No booze, but loads of gumbo, jambalaya and king cake, along with Dixieland music in the background. There is a big sale at Joann Fabric; I may mosey over and see what they have for drapery fabric. Laundry, cleaning and freezer cooking also await.

Or, if the sun is shining, I may take a road trip after the hair appointment to the quilt shop in the next town over. In the fall, Margaret Miller, a well known quilter, is coming to do a two and a half day workshop I'd like to take. This shop, although small, has a habit of bringing in big-name quilters. I've taken workshops with Jinny Beyer, Ricky Tims, Carol Bryer Fallert and others. It's always fun to get a peek at other people's creative process.

That's it here. For more conversation, visit Rachel Anne and pop over to some of the other Company Girls.
