Hello, 2012

Skipping from blog to blog over the last two days, I've seen insightful posts on the year past, round ups of favorite musings from 2011 and plans, resolutions and intentions for the new year.

My own 2012 started five minutes after I got up this morning, when I had to fix a disconnected toilet lever chain and stuck float.

One can only hope that is not a portent for the coming year, whether symbolically or actually.

The new year is a bit of a mystery to me so far. I haven't made any resolutions of concrete plans for the year, and think I may not. I'm anticipating a few changes, but want to approach them in a more low-key, gentle way. Last year was fairly intense, with the condo purchase and a few unexpected other issues, and I feel the need to recenter, nest a bit and go with the flow as much as possible.

In the spirit of "gentle", I took a two hour doze in front of old episodes of Quantum Leap this afternoon, then baked up a box of brownies and made shepherd's pie for dinner. A nice way to start the year, indeed.
