Early release

We got the word in our morning meeting that we may leave an hour early (we generally can the day before a holiday, but we try not to take it for granted, as it is not officially "holiday"). Yay for early parole release!

No running home for me, however, as I made plans to meet the young lady who is my match in our foreign student friendship program at four. We are meeting at the campus Starbucks, which not only has life-sustaining coffee, but a fireplace. It will also be mostly devoid of the usual crowds of caffeine-fueled students; they only had class Monday this week. The Kindle and my journal are in my bag, and I can amuse myself quite well between early quitting time and our meeting.

That will be a perfect beginning to the long weekend.
