Glorious day

  • For the first time in months, I drove to work with the windows down and the moon roof open. Beautiful sunny, mild day. Better yet, this is the first in what may be a string of four or five similar days.
  • The recall elections furious Dems organized after their running-away-from-home stunt failed to stop the collective bargaining law from passing have fallen flat. Four of six seats were held by the Republicans, who therefore still control the State Senate. Is it any surprise the Dems are already claiming "irregularities" in voting in one of the races they lost?
  • The Brewers won their series against the Cardinals - on the road, where the crew has struggled this year. The Brewers are now four games ahead of the Cards. The fall is starting to look promising for baseball fans in the area.
  • The Wisconsin Quilt Museum is holding its grand opening this weekend. The temptation to abandon all that I need to do at home on Friday and zip up to Cedarburg is almost irresistible. Aside from the draw of the museum, Cedarburg itself is a fun shopping destination, with interesting shops in the converted mill, a first class local winery and a restaurant that specializes in crepes. A vintage clothing store in the mill is where I found the hundred year old fabric in the second quilt in this post. Then there is the working blacksmith shop, whose handmade iron decorations would be perfect for the patio wall at the condo...
  • I think my landlords came home last night. I suppose it's time to tell them I'm moving, though I've still not settled on a move date. This should be an interesting conversation...
