My favorite kind of Monday morning
This was the western sky on my way to Panera about 7:45. Five minutes after I got to the restaurant, the skies opened up. For a while there, rain came down sideways. Rain is still pouring down so hard it bounces six inches back up when it hits the sidewalk, but the wind isn't quite as strong. I love these kinds of storms - especially when I don't have to leave here for anything pressing, and can wait until it passes.
The open house yesterday was ...interesting. I honestly believe the realtor made up the open house just for me, as it was a very limited time and as I left, I hear the homeowner say something to the realtor about putting her house back together, even though almost an hour was left of the "open" time.
There is another unit in the same complex I'd like to look at. The patios on these places are truly gorgeous and very private, considering there are 88 units. There are some odd things, such as the entrance from the underground parking being through a small half-basement, then up stairs to emerge in - the dining room. This homeowner had moved the washer and dryer from the basement to a closet in the loft (actually a great idea), but the execution on that project didn't match the great job on the kitchen and baths, if you know what I mean.
So the search continues. While I'm off today I'll call the other three places to make appointments. As I thought, having seen a unit in person has reignited the drive to get out of Dodge as soon as possible. I stayed away from my flat for fourteen hours yesterday, leaving windows open for ventilation, and it was still 85 degrees and humid in the flat when I returned. Ugh.
Sitting in Panera won't get any packing done, but I've enough to amuse myself for a while. After the storms it is supposed to go back to 90 and steamy (hey, but at least my car will be clean!), but if I can get in any of these other places, I will. And hey - if I do manage to buy a place in a hurry, I'll have all of you over for a packing party!
