Company Girl Coffee 052711

Coffee in the pot, but no fresh baked goods today. Wait until next week though - because I'm on vacation this coming week and will have time to bake.

Wonderful, overdue, well-earned vacation. The way I feel right now, I would be content just letting it slip away while I doze in a lawn chair in the shade, a book sitting forgotten in my lap.  There is a very real danger of that happening if I don't make a plan.

Next Wednesday at least is planned out as an errand day. I ended up with a rescheduled dental appointment; no worries there, as my teeth are pretty much perfect (how, I don't know; it certainly isn't genetic). After that, I'd like to take the car in for an oil change and a small interior fix. Later on it will be off to the Apple "genius bar" (pretentious much?) to get them to get my ipod "authorization" associated with the live laptop instead of the dead hard drive.

The installation service for our new pastor is this Sunday - hooray! They are graciously opening their home for a celebration later that afternoon. As they live rather far from the church (thirty plus miles, mostly freeway) I'm not sure what response they will get. I'm planning on going, and will gladly give anyone a ride if they need it.

More driving next Sunday, as I'm going about an hour west to meet an as yet never-met new quilting friend. Amazing how the internet can connect people.

In between, well, the original plan was to continue the Great Decluttering, but the weather, at least on Monday and Tuesday, will be ridiculously hot and humid. So any packing activity needs to take place between five a.m. and noon. After that, it will be off to the movies or the coffeeshop or the mall. Heaven knows I have stacks of books to read, plus things to think through. I'm toying with the idea of doing NaNoWriMo this year; I've the basic concept down, but need to flesh out a basic outline. (As a side note to anyone else crazy enough to consider NaNoWriMo, there is a little book by Steven Pressfield called Do the Work that has an excellent section on sketching out broad outlines. Oh - and the rest of the book is pretty cool, too)

Watch this space - in the past, I've put up a list of the things I've wanted to accomplish over this kind of vacation. Having a public list help with accountability. Besides, crossing things off is so much fun! It's also easier to go off and have fun if you've already crossed something off of the to-do list.

Speaking of which, I need to work on the few things I want to finish up here at work before taking off.
