Chimney swifts are swarming around campus. The spot they have selected as a love nest has several high, open places they may enjoy. Marquette Hall, the oldest building on campus, has a lovely bell tower housing a wonderful carillon; next door to it is Gesu Church (our local version, anyway) with a couple of nifty towers and a set of bells of its own. The attraction for the swifts is obvious; you have to wonder, though, what will happen when the bells begin to ring on Sunday.
They say love is blind; for the swifts, at least, it may also be deaf.
