Time for a bit of good news

The radio station I listen to is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, funded entirely by contributions.  They are set up this way to allow them to broadcast faith-based programming without having to abide by the some of the draconian regulations the FCC has for commercial stations. The station broadcasts in over 400 cities across the country, and streams over the internet as well.

Since they are publicly funded, they do a semi-annual, ten day, on-air pledge drive. They do it very well; in spite of basically begging for money they keep it positive, firmly fixing their confidence on the God who provides.

Last night, a full day before the pledge drive's scheduled end, they reached the 100% funding mark.  And people are still calling to pledge.  In the four or five years I've been listening, I don't ever recall this happening.

This verse floated back to mind when I heard what was going on:

"...give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you."

Luke 6:38

The true value in what K-Love is broadcasting isn't in the enjoyment of the music, but how God uses the music, the on-air chatter, the pastoral staff and the special events to change lives.  We give, and the return to us is the expansion and strengthening of the body of Christ.

Not a bad return for a few bucks a month.
