Without further ado - pictures, with time and date stamps.
When I arrived home from work yesterday, from my living room window. The black Civic is mine. It had barely started snowing, although the wind howled. The snow on the ground is the five inches we got overnight Monday. My city doesn't bother plowing the side streets well if the snowfall is under about six inches.
This is a shot downwards from my window, showing the walkway across the front of the house and on to the back. A bit of drifting of the previous days' snow starting.
The next shots were taken at 10:21 this morning (time stamp is off by an hour). Since then, then plows have come through again.
Shot of the walkway, same time. (er, what walkway?)
The fun part of all this is the blowing and drifting; when I first looked outside at 4:30 this morning, there was almost no snow in front of or behind the car.
Today is the relatively easy day, as no one is expected to be doing much except shoveling. There is a general feeling that things will be back to "normal" (though with six foot high snowbanks) tomorrow. Getting around will be difficult for the next few weeks, until it gets warm enough for a day or two to start a bit of a melt. The weekend temps will be just under freezing; we are supposed to get what may be the coldest weather of the year early next week.
Work followed me home; I'm scheduled to watch a webinar in the early afternoon, and since the internet is working, I feel I should go ahead and participate. There's a bit of paperwork that came home, too, but I'm losing interest in doing that.
In fact, a nap is looking better and better.
Buses still are not running, we're still under a civil danger warning, but the sun is now shining and people are moving about. We'll survive.
