Achy, tired, but no longer so stomach-fluey. Wanted to go to bed at seven, but have a few little things to take care of tonight. Random thoughts -
American Idol - Milwaukee audition show tonight. Apparently JLo thought we are near the ocean? Does all of middle America not exist for her?
It certainly does for the POTUS, as he was in Manitowoc today. Is he already campaigning for 2012? Give it up; the state has turned from blue to red, hopefully for good.
The long-haired dude from the Packers picked up an endorsement deal with Suave shampoo. Yeah, I want my hair silky smooth like a linebacker's.
The movie Twister scares the daylights out of me every time I see it. I blame the music, and the fact that I live in the tornado-prone Midwest. I remember the non-stop coverage of the aftermath of the Barneveld F-5, and the thankfully small touchdowns we've had more recently, and much closer to home. Never, ever ignore a tornado warning;
Spent significant time this week putting research in order for the continuation of a rather warm discussion on the baptism of the Holy Spirit at our early morning Bible study, only to have an overdeveloped work ethic tell me I should go in to work early tomorrow instead of going to study, as I've been out the last two days. Really irritated about this anyway; this is what comes of reading a book rather than studying the Book. I had taken a sabbatical last spring due to work commitments; I'm the one who would have vociferously objected to that change. To top it off, the book they are reading was originally written in Chinese, based on talks given in 1938 - 39 but not published until 1957. So we are dealing with differences between Eastern and Western Christian thought, difficulties with translation and differences in cultural references and vocabulary from then until now.
The utterly frustrating thing about this situation is that the reason I was given that they switched from an actual Bible study to reading a book was that some of the ladies didn't want to do the homework. Considering that four of the six women are retired, I find that rather curious. The delicious irony of the current situation is that the very Spirit over whom they are arguing is the One whose specific job assignment is to lead us into all truth - in other words, He's the One who helps us understand the Scriptures.
Need to pack the work bag. Whether or not I go to study, I'll be leaving fairly early. It is supposed to snow after about six a.m. tomorrow, and I hope to be to work before it starts falling in earnest.
