Green space

While I was out of town last weekend, I spent one morning in a local coffeehouse called Glas.  They bill themselves as a "green" business, and as a result, they serve their coffee in huge old ceramic cups complete with latte art (smudged a bit as it was carried to my table.)   The cups and saucers rarely match, as they appear to be rescued from various thrift shops and yard sales and checked for size.  The coffee is good, the atmosphere a bit off beat and fun.

Several racks scattered here and there supported the handcrafts of various local artists, ranging from home made jams to earrings and other jewelry made from odd pieces of old silver flatware.  I will admit a pair of the earrings followed me home.

What didn't follow me home, though I wish it had, was this:

Yep, that would be a lime green velvet button tufted chaise settee.  Thanks to my mad Googling skills, I now know that it is available at Target.  Don't think for a moment I'm not tempted.

This is seating fit for a princess, a movie star, a personality that fills a room, Secrets, intrigues and gossip sessions, confessions of love or of hatred, dramas enacted at operatic pitch or in sibilant whispers - these are conversations worthy of the settee.  Instead, it sits in the corner of the coffee shop, praying no one drops a latte.

Clipping this photo and adding it to the condo file, anyway...
