Eve eve, so to speak

A quiet day here on the homestead.  I actually slept in (seven a.m. is so sleeping in) and have been finding excuses to do nothing much ever since.  Once I'm done here, I'll do a lap or so around the house, tidying and dusting.

The main fun of the afternoon will be putting together a leather task chair.  The old chair gave up the ghost last spring; I've been using a folding chair since, as replacing it wasn't a priority.  Office Max just happened to have a decent task chair at a very reasonable price.  Most importantly, it truly is a task chair - no arms, which makes it easier to get close to the desk and/or sewing machine.  Arms, at least those on a chair, just get in the way.

Later, too, will be a trip to pick up holiday feast foodstuffs.  Dinner on Christmas Eve is traditionally frozen pizza (my mother always insisted on "doing Christmas" before lunch on Christmas Eve, mostly, I suspect, in order to be "first" in celebrating with her granddaughter, so the rest of the holiday was on our own); I'm thinking steak for Christmas dinner.  Something easy, anyway.

If I remember to pick up butter, I may make a batch of Spritz, green trees with chocolate chip stars.  Assuming, of course, that I can find the cookie press...
