Homeland insecurity

Sometimes, it doesn't pay to think for yourself. Interesting how some government agencies spurn the very type of help they should be falling all over themselves to get.

Anette Pillsbury is a housekeeper in a local hotel close to a small area airport that runs a flying school. She found some things in a room she was cleaning that raised some alarm bells, and tried to alert Homeland Security.

According to her, Homeland cut her off before she told the whole story.  Now, it's reasonable that the agency didn't have time to call her back - they must get a high volume of calls - but to not listen to her entire account is irresponsible, particularly in light of the type of information she had and the current state of terror alerts in Europe.

Think of it: what better place to get training for an attack on a major European city than a backwater airport in Wisconsin?

While Homeland Security is busy ignoring what may have been a good lead, I'm frantically trying to figure out what I can cram into a sandwich bag because TSA is afraid I'll use a full size toothpaste tube to minty-fresh a pilot into crashing into the French Quarter.

I feel safer already.
