If I made them from scratch, I wouldn't have had this problem

Tonight's dinner was a quick, mostly no-cook affair of grocery store rotisserie chicken, frozen green beans and instant mashed potatoes.  While in the grocery store, I picked up a small tube of chocolate chip cookies; since the temperature in my kitchen has dropped from "hotter than the hinges" to "five-alarm", I thought I'd do some baking.

Note that I have ALL the ingredients for scratch cookies at home; the slice and bake kind simply went with the minimal fuss theme of the evening.

This small tube of tollhouse cookies is supposed to yield seventeen cookies.  "Self,"  I said, "that's a pretty stupid number.  If I make it eighteen, I can evenly slice the tube and not make myself crazy."

Opening the tube, I cut the roll in half, cut the halves in half again, and cut three cookies from each quarter.  About the time I started putting them on the cookie sheet, I realized something was off.*

Totally embarrassing, but still delicious.

*I'm not going to tell you.  Do the math.
