Meteorologists and traffic reporters, that is. The meteorologists say "1 - 2 inches of snow, tapering off mid-morning" - so why did I already brush two inches of heavy, wet snow off the car at 6:11 a.m.? The traffic reporters say "Salt trucks are out" - yes, but not in West Allis. Oh no, here we don't do anything until we have over three inches of snow. And the official measuring device is in a sheltered corner, where only 10% of available snow falls.
On the up side, it is absolutely gorgeous. The snow is falling in almost golf ball sized clumps, the fat flakes that land on your hair and take a couple of minutes to melt. The grass was covered when I went out, making everything look fresh and clean. It's really good packing snow, although any snowmen made today will most likely melt in tomorrow's forty degree weather.
It's official - winter is here.
