Fly away home

Late yesterday I received an invitation to an impromptu housewarming party to be held tonight. It happens to be thrown by the young friends for whom the flamingo wallhanging is destined. Nothing like having a deadline, is there? In truth, most of the quilting was done, and the binding already made. It's been a lazy afternoon finishing the quilting, trimming the quilt and attaching the binding and label. But I have fuzzy pictures to show you, before it goes to roost at its new home.
The first picture is one section of the wallhanging. There are three birds in total, each from a different pink fabric with different teal backgrounds (in keeping with the current economic downturn, no new supplies at all were purchased for this piece - everything, including the batting (which had to be pieced) is from my existing stash - I did indeed have the flamingo printed light teal fabric in that stash - amazing what you can find in those bins). The second is an attempt to show some of the quilting. The teal is quilted in a spiky all over pattern resembling palm fronds; the border is a repeating series of waves.

All in all, it turned out well, considering how quickly it was made.
