This will only make sense to other accountants

I've spent a good deal of my time today hunting down a difference in a reconciliation. One recon said the report didn't math by $XX, while the other recon (which should come to the same difference, but through different means and different systems) said it was off $XZ.

The two differences should be the same.

I knew what the difference between the two was, but couldn't get the second recon to echo the first, which I knew was right (but originally thought was wrong, until the third time I traced both through and realized it was indeed ok).

Long story short, the "difference" in the differences turned out to be due to an incorrect link on the spreadsheet, which is newly copied and updated for the new fiscal year.

Send me home now, please. On a normal day, this wouldn't have happened. I need sleep, or more coffee (someone turned the pot off at noon) and for the stinky fumes from last night's carpet cleaning to dissipate.
