The Journal Sentinel ran this article on Aldi today. They are opening a new store in Brookfield, where local residents complained about the planned store, saying it would bring in "undesirable elements".
This is the money quote from the article:
Keefe says Brookfield residents who feel that way need to get over it.
"What kind of element is that? People who want to save money?" Keefe said, rolling her eyes.
Emphasis mine. You have to know Brookfield to understand how funny this is.
I do save quite a bit by shopping at Aldi for anything I can. Generally, I don't pick up my produce there; I find that it tends to be riper and will spoil if not used right away. Otherwise, everything I've tried has been good.
We'll see how the location in Brookfield shapes up.
