I can take a hint

As long as you make sure you write it in neon lights across my forehead.

At the very end of Tuesday's dinner with my newly engaged friend, she pulled out a pattern for a quilt that we had discussed several weeks earlier. We had talked about her making it this fall, and whether or not you had to use batik (translation: very expensive) fabrics to get the same effect as the pictured quilt. She said I should hold on to it for a while, maybe look through it...

It just now (Friday early afternoon) occurred to me that she may have been angling for me to make the quilt (out of the very expensive batik fabric (which I actually have quite a bit of in my stash)) as a wedding gift. She'll be too busy in the fall to make one herself.

Granted, this is the busiest week of the year at work, with all kinds of issues related to that swirling in my brain, along with plans for tomorrow's rummage sale and a few other things, but still - three days to figure this out?

Moral of the story: Just ask me straight out; I don't do subtle.
