Because it will cost us, you know. Whether in lost team members (if you have the talent to go pro and scouts have already been looking at you, would you return for your senior year under a new coach? I think not) or in additional costs related to recruiting and hiring, Tom Crean's departure for shadier greener pastures will be expensive.

The really irritating part of this is that it is going to cost me personally. I was having dinner, sitting in front of the t.v. watching the news when the story came on. It was choke or, er...spew. I'm not sure if the rug needs professional cleaning...

Uh, no; the university did not send out a news brief to their employees prior to the local newscast. One of my direct reports works closely with Athletics; even she apparently had no inkling. What I do know is that Indiana must have offered him some incredible incentives to get him to leave behind the sweet deal he has here.

The crappiest part of this? The item was posted on WISN's webpage at 5:45, then mentioned in the 6 p.m. newscast, but apparently Crean is not meeting with the team to tell them he is leaving until tonight. Granted, "tonight" could be anywhere from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. - I just hope the team does find out from him directly, not from the news.
