How many pizzas does it take to feed eight hungry college students? Two family size pizzas from Papa Murphy's, augmented by a pan of brownies. Silly me - I thought I'd have left over pizza for lunch tomorrow. There are, at least, a few brownies left.
The students came over not primarily for pizza, but to tie the Watumishi quilt. One young woman had done some quilting; at least one of the guys had never held a needle. They did a phenomenal job, and a very quick one as well, with so many hands helping. By the time I went to pick up the pizzas, they were almost done. All that is left to do is to sew on the label. My printer was going berserk (and calmed down and printed nicely two minutes after everyone left), so I will be putting the label on.
All that remains is to clean up the house. Oh - not from dinner; the kids cleaned up after themselves very nicely. The quilt, however, is determined to drive me crazy. The striped fabric they had for the border - that very, very loosely woven acrylic - frayed like my nerves after an hour in heavy traffic. Long tendrils of orange-red acrylic festoon the sewing room, kitchen and living room. We moved the quilt to my bed when we had dinner; I've no doubt it has left little red trails there, too.
The quilt itself will not come apart. I made sure of that, stay-stitching every edge with a teeny, tiny stitch. The strings around the house are the pieces that frayed up to that line of stitching. It's not really worth trying to clean until the quilt is entirely out of my house.
That's my excuse, anyway.
