Our UPS guy came in with a delivery for a co-worker when I was sitting in her cube. I asked him what the oddest thing was he ever delivered.
"Well, they ship heads."
::blink::
I now have a whole new visual for the phrase "heads will roll"...

Hoping to get to a coffee-house concert tonight at which a friend's band is performing, but I've already had a couple of friends turn down my invitation due to other things popping up. I've no real objection to going alone, except the fact that it is cold out and I'm already sleepy. But hey! It's a coffee house, so I can drink some artificial stimulants that both warm and wake me up.

Going to a book signing on Sunday, for The Girl Who Stopped Swimming by Joshilyn Jackson. Now this, I planned to go to alone, but mentioned it to a pal, who promptly decided we should go to lunch after church, then to the signing, in spite of the fact she's never heard of the author. Go figure. This is provided, of course, that Ms. Jackson doesn't scurry back to Atlanta to avoid our below-freezing (high of 29 degrees on Sunday) weather.

It is beginning to look as if my "vacation at home" at the end of this month is going to be rather more busy than I anticipated. The main objective of the week is to complete a project I'm doing for a student group (more on that when it is done). But as of now, I'm also filling in as leader for a friend's study, rehearsing/singing on worship team, celebrating my birthday (two and a half months late, but since we don't "officially" get older until we celebrate, I don't mind the delay at all) with a friend and probably making arrangements to take another friend out for her birthday (which actually is in March). All of these are things I volunteered for and want to do, and will be welcome breaks from the project. Still, there is the longing to just go to sleep on March 20th (we have Good Friday off) and not get up again until March 31st, in the hopes that spring will come in the meantime.

It once was lost, but now is found... Since 4 p.m. on Saturday I have lost, then subsequently found: my sunglasses (the ones I bought last April to replace the ones I thought I lost then); my debit card (twice); my checkbook; a copy of a One Year Bible (realized later I sold it to Half Price Books a year ago); and last, but not least, my sanity (well, the jury is out on whether I really found that again).
Honestly, what is going on? I never lose things. Especially things like the debit card and checkbook. I am fully convinced this is a hormonal thing, and I just have to wade through it, however long it lasts, but it sure sucks. I already have little systems in place that help keep me organized; I need to be more diligent about using them. Not to mention establishing new ones...I may have to make myself a checklist for leaving the house, and a checklist for returning. Argh.

Another friend is having an open house tonight and tomorrow to show the jewelry she makes to sell. I have a pair of austrian crystal dangle earrings she made that never fail to garner compliments, and may go back for more. I love drop earrings, and while these are almost two inches long, they are delicate enough that they don't completely take over, if you know what I mean. They also don't get tangled in my hair.

Speaking of hair, I have to confess it's been nearly a year since my last trim, and two and a half since my last actual salon visit styled cut. It's neat enough, but very long - longer than I've ever worn it, I think. It's a really good thing that stick-straight hair is "in".... But I've already noticed that on warmer days (we've had a few above freezing, you know) the back of my neck is rather warm. Given the non-air conditioned nature of my flat and the on again/off again HVAC at work, I'm considering cutting it short. I'd ask you all to vote, but I can already predict the results: the women will say get it cut, while the men will want it long. What is it with long hair, anyway?

I'm reading a book called "Simplify Your Time". Obviously, I haven't yet gotten to the part on paring down computer time.
