And so it ends ...

It is back to the salt mines tomorrow. At least it will be payday (although according to my on-line banking, the money is already in my account, showing as additional available balance, but not as a pending transaction. Odd).

For the most part (except for the whole never being allowed to get a full night's sleep issue, which I'm so angry about I daren't post about it) it has been a delightful break. More than once I was able to find a spot with a cup of coffee and simply read/write/study/daydream to my heart's content without the pressure of needing to be somewhere or do something else. The house is reasonably clean, most of the laundry is done and I have lunches planned for the next week. Several quilts had some attention paid to them, a trip was made to the quilt shop and I discovered I still can hand sew - and enjoy it.

The last few days have been a bit dramatic and angst-filled (though not for me personally, thank heaven). A young friend and her boyfriend of long standing broke up. She called me Friday while I was at Starbucks and talked for about half an hour, then came over for a couple hours on Saturday, and called again for a bit today... being a listening ear is no great burden (although in happier times she talks so fast my ears start to bleed after about an hour), and I'm happy to be what she calls her "reasonable" friend.

The next few weeks will be busy at work, and at home. This Thursday at the departmental meeting, True Colors is coming in to help us figure out what types of personalities we have (shut up. Accountants do too have personalities. Just not very interesting ones) with the goal of improving communication across the units. I'm not holding out high hopes. I don't really care whether you are sanguine or phlegmatic, just give me the information I need to do my job. But then again, that's just my INTJ pragmatism speaking. This is going to be interesting.

The dear friend who stood me up is back in town, and as sick as sick can be. Her germbag little grandkids once again demonstrated they have the concept of "sharing" down pat. On the up side, her DIL had their fourth child Tuesday - another little boy. That gives Pam a full baseball team's worth of grandkids.

Better get those lunches set and decide what to wear tomorrow. Naturally, the high tomorrow is going to be up in the mid to high fifties. Humpf. I got a foot of snow, rain, high wind and intermittent sunshine for vacation. It figures that the weather turns as I go back to work.
