As Holly so astutely noticed, I failed in my Holidalies duty and did not have a post up yesterday. In truth, I did start one titled "Some days are diamonds, some days, Santa just gives you a big old lump of coal." Let's just say work issues, car issues, weather issues, deadline issues all combined into one unhappy post. You all don't need that, and neither do I.
But things are looking up. I had offered a while back to open my home either Christmas Eve or Day to anyone at church who didn't have elsewhere to go.
Gee, stated baldly like that, it sounds like it's an event on the Isle of Misfit Toys.
Let's try again, shall we? Due to circumstances of family life, or alternating holidays, or relatives too far away to visit, people sometimes find themselves at loose ends for a holiday. So, I'm opening my home to anyone who needs a place to celebrate. We'll have good food (though I don't know what, yet), lots of warm drinks, a few funny movies and a bunch of games. We can laugh, eat, talk, play games, snooze in front of the movie - in short, have a fun holiday without the stress and fighting that sometimes happens even in the closest family.
I'm too new to the church to know exactly who may need a place, but our pastor's wife has been busily spreading the news. She called this morning to let me know several people were interested.
Whoo hoo! Although I have to confess, at this point I had pretty much assumed no one was coming. Hmmm, I really should finish putting up the Christmas stuff, and clean the house.
Once I know the exact time, I'll let you know - you are all invited. The more the merrier!
