British humor humour

The discussion on the radio this morning centered around a movie released last weekend - Mr. Bean's Holiday - and from there, sequed into a general discussion of British humor humour. All things Python, Fawlty Towers, Mr. Bean's television show and more were brought up.

So, my question(s) for you, Gentle Readers: Do you "get" British humor? Are you a die-hard Python fan? Do you subscribe to BBC America? And what on earth draws you to it? Discuss in the comments.

Hmmm. May have given away my own answer, there. While I am familiar enough with the Python saga to (usually) spot references to it, and can recognize John Cleese when I see him, I'm generally not much of a fan. I simply don't see what's funny, or at least so funny that people go ga-ga over it.

No, I have not had my sense of humor surgically removed.

No, I don't hate all things British. In fact, I am, if anything, an anglophile. Well, except in matters of no ice in the drinks and the whole idea of roundabouts.

Anyway, discuss.
