The crowd last night was the largest ever for the Classical Connections series; it's the fastest growing subscription series the symphony has.
The three guest artists - the Assad brothers on guitar and Nadja Salerno-Sonneberg on violin - performed some of their incredible trio music. The combination of two guitars and a violin seems odd, but the result is heavenly.
The last piece of the evening was Ravel's Bolero. It's not a favorite of mine by any means, but hearing it in person does make a difference. The buildup to the end is much more intense. It's fun to pick out the various soloists as well. All in all , an evening well spent.
Oh - and the food was good, too.
