This article frankly frightens me. It’s long been a trend that as traditional families are breaking down, more and more of the character and spiritual development of our children is being left to the churches, the schools, or, in many cases, to the incessant pounding of various forms of media.
But to make character development a recognized part of the curriculum at school? Good grief, are parents involved in their children’s lives at all, other than providing the basic raw materials to create life? Where is the sense of personal responsibility? Oh – excuse me: I forgot - the parents didn’t have the advantages of teaching from the Center for the 4th and 5th Rs.
Perhaps we’d be better off pitching the classes to the parents.
Rant over.
