You cannot give a huge wad of cash to a university for a scholarship endowment, expect to be able to name the specific recipients of the scholarship fund (your own kids), and still receive a tax write off for a charitable contribution. Please believe the advancement officers when they tell you this.
And please, please do not give this cash five working days prior to fiscal year end. You're making me crazy.
