Christmas (music) is in the air

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Apparently, I set up a Christmas music playlist on the ipod last year. I must have had people over for dinner or coffee during the holidays, as the only time I use playlists is to set up background tunes for social events. No matter; it exists.

I must confess, I like holiday music. Even more so since we so infrequently sing any of the traditional carols in church, and when we do, we rarely go beyond the first verse and chorus. These old hymns are chock full of theological truth (which tends to be in short supply not only in some "worship" songs, but in many churches).

The playlist has a fair number of "popular" Christmas tunes as well, to round out a little over four hours of music, not including any of the classical stuff.  It's hard to get through the season without "Santa Looks A Lot Like Daddy" and "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer". A few of the contemporary Christian and country artists have recorded some original music that may be on the way to "classic" status, too.

So the music runs in the background of my office. I'm trying hard not to sing along, either under my breath or full voice.

Still, it's a good thing I can close the office door.

Me too! I love Christmas music and often have Handel's Messiah playing during the next few weeks. David bears with me as I blast all my CD's and i take secret pleasure in knowing my girls also adore classic Christmas movies like White Christmas and Little Women and The Bells of St Mary's. and more.....
